October 2002 Archives

With Grandpa Jordan's birthday coming up in a few days, Hale decided to take him out to El Arriero for dinner. Isn't he a thoughtful little guy?!

Feliz Cumpleaos, Grandpa!

A season of secrets...

As the holidays approach, deception is running rampant in the Jordan household! It's the fun, innocent kind of deception that is necessary when attempting to purchase the perfect gift without being found out. Kevin and I have enjoyed this game for four years now! You would think that he would know by now that I always win, but as usual, he is trying (and miserably failing) to throw me off track.

In the meantime, Hale is preparing for his first Halloween. Keep your eyes open for an album commemorating this exciting event! ....and the goblins will getcha if ya don't watch out!

This Old House

Anyone who has stopped by the house over the last year probably noticed its state of disrepair. A poor paintjob 4 years ago had given way to a mess of peeled paint. A poorly routed downspout was dumping all the water from the roof 10 feet uphill from a basement window. And the lack of a gutter on the carport had caused a section of plywood to rot, giving our house a certain look of angst.

Kev the-shallow-pocket-tool-less-man Jordan decided to (with the help of his family, friends, and a contractor) take all the projects on with a cut-throat timeline of "before it snows." Lucky for me the weatherman poorly predicted flurries last night, so we're still on track. Here's an update:

  • One day at Lowe's, Jill and I saw a swatch for a beautiful house with gray siding and white trim. We've hired a contractor to help us make it happen on our own home. The house is nearly prepared now, and warmer weather next week should bring with it at least the first coat of primer.
  • A voracious day of handyman help by a friend from church gave way to a repaired carport wall, new cedar lap siding, new guttering, and an underground route for rainwater away from the basement. (I was sore for a week!)
  • Somewhere in there Jill and I (and some other friends) were able to squeeze in the extra project of crown molding in one upstairs bedroom. Mercy me - I have a new found respect for carpenters. (Not The Carpenters)
So we're hoping that the snow holds off for a few more weeks and we can get the house painted. And, I'm happy to say that this is the busiest Fall I've ever had. Thanks to Jill and Hale (and the dogs) for putting up with all the racket, dirt, and hustle and bustle. I'm looking forward to warm nights in a painted house, staring at a sparkling Christmas tree surrounded by packages... I love this time of year!

Good job, Kev!

Wow - Kevin did a great job with the website! I LOVE the new look. And even though you might not be aware of it at first, Hale is in the picture with me and Rossie...I was about eight weeks pregnant when that picture was taken!

We hope you are all enjoying the fall season as much as we are. It's a great time to snuggle up with my boys and my dogs!

You may notice that things look a little different around here. Jill and I decided that it was time for a change and, like so many leaves on the trees, we changed the colors of the site. But, in case you needed one last fix, I've added a final screen shot to remember 'ole greenie.

You all said it would happen, and you were right - Hale is already 4 1/2 months old and growing so quickly! He is continuously changing and learning new things. According to the "Four-month Milestone Guide" that our beloved pediatrician gave us at his most recent check-up, he is right on schedule (even ahead of the game in some categories).

Just yesterday afternoon Hale began sitting up with only the help of his boppy pillow (a semi-circular, over-stuffed pillow used either for breastfeeding or helping babies sit up)! It won't be long until we can pack the boppy away with all the other stuff he has "outgrown."

Hale is now a formula man. He made the transition easily and is guzzling about five 6-ounce bottles a day in addition to his fruits, veggies and cereal. And on top of all that, he is such a happy little guy! We couldn't ask for a better (or more handsome) baby. We love you, Hale!!

What a pair...

What a week it has been for the Ingle family! We're so glad GrandBud is at home and recovering (you'd never know he went under the knife if you could see him now!) and stirring things up as usual! Unfortunately, Nana took her turn under the knife as well, to have a cyst removed from her posterior exterior. We knew she was going to be okay when she came back home from the doctor's office and had stopped to get her jug re-filled!

I heard Mom (Nana) say that she and Dad (GrandBud) just wanted to get themselves fixed up so they would be ready for the next 30 years together. And hence the title of this entry....WHAT A PAIR!

We love you guys!

Happy Birthday Bud!

Just wanted to wish (Grand)Bud a happy birthday! As some of you know, its been quite a week for Jill's father - he had his appendix taken out on Monday. The good news is, as a present, his doctor has agreed to release him today. You're going home Bud!

Happy Birthday!
