Movie Speak

I was reading an interesting article at the Chicago Tribune today. It is definitely one I can relate to: Do you speak 'Caddyshack'? -- In real life, many guys like to quote reel life

I guess this article made me laugh twice. The first was the irony that I'm not alone in this affliction. A large (but shrinking) part of my persona is based on television and movie quotes -- I can obviously relate to the author and those he interviewed! I internalize these regurgitated quotes more than I used to, but frequently I've got Jerry Seinfeld live-and-in-person (in my head) saying, "That's a shame..." with plenty of sarcasm when someone is telling a self-inflicted, but all-too-sad personal anecdote. And that, in itself, truly is a shame.

The second was when the author pointed out that someone with this affliction (I'll call it an ability) would be very well suited to work at a Blockbuster video rental store. <pause> I just started working part-time at Blockbuster yesterday. Do I feel qualified to work there? Yes. Because of my ability? I guess it doesn't hurt!

Movies are a fun distraction from the rigors of everyday life. And I like to take the distraction along with me for the ride.

Click below for a list of some of the "reel" quotes from the article.

haleboy1.jpghale1.jpgHow about a couple pics of my boy? Sound good?

Here's Hale on a recent visit to GrandBud's office in Shelbyville. He was a little sleepy, but still managed to impress the crowd with his stair climbing abilities. He has many admirers there, but none as wonderful as his grandpa.

Credits for the pictures go to Tonya and her digital camera. Thanks for sharing!

Things, they are a'changing

As the days get longer, Hale's schedule seems to do the same. Gone are the days when he went to bed at 7:00 pm and woke up the next morning at 9:00 am. Now it's more like 8:30 pm to 6:30 am, and Mommy is none-too-pleased! As Kevin can confirm, it takes me awhile to wake up in the morning, and until I do, I'm not the most pleasant of people. Fortunately for me, by the time I'm finally awake enough to function properly, Hale is ready for a nap which gives me time to get some stuff done around the house.

And speaking of longer days, it sure has been nice to enjoy some evening time outside taking walks with my boys!

In an effort to make the most of what we have, Jill and I have decided to share our range of talents and resources in the "personal website" arena with anyone who is interested. To that end, when you visit http://www.348north.com/ now it looks more like a business (I hope). That's because it is.

Our idea is that we can help other people express themselves and their creativity on the 'net. Believe me, after you get things set up it really isn't that hard to add content (like this post you are reading) and tinker around. That's what we can provide -- we'll help set it up and get you going, and you do the rest: share your thoughts, pictures, whatever with others.

Good idea? Bad idea? Both? We have the hardware, connection to the internet, and know-how. If someone wants to give it a shot, let me know. We'll charge a small monthly fee to help cover our expensese, but no more than you pay for your basic cable.

After visiting the doctor on Friday, Kevin and I learned that the new addition to our little pumpkin patch will be arriving later than expected. An ultrasound indicated that Baby Jordan is due to arrive on or around October 27th. Sorry, Uncle Jeremy, but you might have to celebrate your birthday (October 26th) in Columbia City!

We'll be posting Baby Jordan's first pictures soon, so don't forget to check out the albums section!

Double the trouble

Our poor little man was diagnosed yesterday with a double ear infection. Mr. Grumpy Pants wasn't being grumpy at all, just not feeling well. But Dr. B took care of him and he's now on the road to recovery. Hopefully this will be the last of the sickies for the season. Our website says it's spring, but I'm just not feelin' it!?!?!
