New scheduling algorithm

For lack of a better term, I'll call what I added an algorithm. What it actually represents is a small agent that looks at how often a particular feed produces a new article and adjusts the collection agent's schedule for that feed (or site). I think this will cut down dramatically on the bandwidth I am using because the default schedule on most feeds is hourly. Also, it is adapting. If some site has a month stretch where there are new feeds several times a day, then that schedule will quickly change or remain in hourly. After a few days of inactivity, or a slower pace, that feed will change to daily.

We'll see how it works.

15 months and growing....

We haven't been good about getting new pictures up, but we do have an update on Mr. Hale...

At his 15-month appointment this past Monday, Hale weighed in at 26 pounds,
1/4 ounce and was 32 1/2 inches tall. And with two brand new molars as of last night, he is looking and acting like a full-fledged toddler (that makes a total of 12 teeth)!

In addition to all the growing Hale has been doing this summer, he is also looking forward to the arrival of his new baby brother or sister. We're about 6 1/2 weeks away from Baby Day! Hale will be moving into his Big Boy Room in about a week and a half upon installation of new carpet. Can you picture him in a big boy bed? I'm having mixed emotions about it...what happened to my little baby boy??!!

montana.jpgChalk another one up to Kevin & Jill making the transistion from ultra-cool (as you all know we are) to ultra-practical. That's right...we traded in the wagon AND the Cougar for a sleek, sporty (as if) mini-van! It has all the creature comforts that we're used to, but comes with enough practicality to haul around a couple of carseats, a couple of furry beasts (dogs, not kids), some luggage and other travel necessities. And us, of course! Did you ever think you'd see the day? I know we didn't, but in our quest to conserve our coolness, we realized that we'll be cool no matter what...it's all about the attitude, after all.

I can't believe we've already been talking about King David for a month. We've made it nearly halfway through 2nd Samuel, and have started to talk about the harder times in David's life.

You can download the worksheet we used here: David worksheet 2 [pdf]

JarrettCongratulations to my brother Randy and his family on the birth of their latest and greatest: Jarrett Jesse Lee! He's what you get when you cross a race driver, an old bearded man and an orange car -- and that's just his name. (rim shot)

Again, congrats!

PS. Here is the link to the hospital webpage. I'm not sure how long it will be active.

This past Sunday was our 3rd week in our discussion of King David, and the first week that we've used a worksheet. We covered topics 17-19 on the topic outline, with some extra stuff thrown in for good measure. You can take a look at the worksheet here: David worksheet 1 [pdf]

We didn't get to the last section on David's struggles, and will pick up there next week.

A couple of weeks ago our small group at church began a look at the life and times of King David. Basically I just started with the index in my study bible and used that as a guide. You can view the outline I created using the index here: david topic outline [pdf]
