I was really surprised to find that this post from 2004 about intelligent jokes is the number one search result at Google for ... wait for it ... "intelligent jokes". Not sure how it got there, but that post has about 70 hits a week, far and above anything else on this site.

So, in the vain of that post, here's one that might make 1 in 25 laugh:

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?

A: To make a normal vector.

Well last night was the Story Family's annual Fall party and it was a really fun time. Made more enjoyable by Jill breaking out the turkey costume she made for Hale years ago. It fit her well and she was the hit of the party -- winning the best baby costume contest!

I just noticed that I haven't posted a single photo album in 2007 so I went ahead and uploaded the rest of the photos from the party. You can find them here.

As an update to my earlier post on Useful Web sites, here's an update from the Mulch website on the 2007 Farm Subsidy Database:

Tens of thousands of people who have benefited from billions in federal farm subsidy payments have been shielded from public view for decades, behind layers of partnerships, joint ventures, corporations and other business structures that obscured their personal subsidy claims. Not anymore.

EWGs new 2007 Farm Bill Database provides full disclosure...

2007 Farm Subsidy map of Columbia CityA new feature of the website is a Google Maps mashup of where the payments go. I've included a map of Columbia City which is not as interesting as the maps of Park Avenue or Key West. The interesting part is that payments are going to farmers living in places where there are no farms.

This database is provided by the Environmental Working Group, a public interest research and advocacy organization.
