I think the stretch between New Year's and springtime is really a test of will. We get up to the darkness each morning, and eat dinner in the same. Work is... well, work.
So what can break up this monotony? Hale!!!
For the next month or two, Friday morning is swimming practice for Haley at the Huntington YMCA; Huntington is about 25 minutes away from where we live. This is the way to start your weekend, let me tell you! Other than the fact that I was the only dad there last week, it is a fun bunch of parents and kids singing silly songs and splashing about. Jill and I are both thankful we can go as a team.
One week we will remember our camera, so you can get the "real" feeling for what it is like through the pictures. Will the camera's pictures portray how cold the water was (last week)? Let us hope it doesn't have to!
Of course, the week that I write this swimming is canceled... it seems the YMCA's pool water heater cannot keep up with the temp of the water coming in from the city. Usually that water probably comes in at 60-65 and then gets heated to 80. Due to the cold ground temperature here in northern Indiana (and permafrost), the water is purportedly coming in below 40.
Now if only I could remember how much energy it took to raise one pound of water one degree Farenheight... or was it one gram of water one degree Celcius?
